Hope everyone is enjoying their summer vacations. Lots of demos, including myself, are in Salt Lake City for the annual Stampin' Up! Conventions. Lots of fun, lots of free stuff to be given away, lot of friendships rekindled and made, etc. It's a lot of fun and the only way to can be part of it is to be a Stampin' Up! demo.

What do you think of her Bargello Technique? Pretty cool, huh?

“Bargello is a form of embroidery that is created through a series of upright flat stitches laid out in interesting patterns. Five Fabulous Featured Artists!!

Who's ready for yet another round of Featured Artists? I am! It is so much fun to feature one of you and your amazing creations with our sketch and color challenges. It is our way of saying THANK YOU for joining our Divas and our challenges.

For sketch challenge #203 we are featuring this festive card by Angelique! Love how those little images from Jolly Bingo Bits (Holiday Mini) fit so nicely into the circle elements of the sketch. And a great use of those designer papers as well!

This next cheery card by Heather Pitz is perfect for our color challenge #204 to use Rich Razzleberry, Pretty in Pink and Early Espresso! Sounds like Heather had fun putting her coloring skills to work on this cupcake image from Birthday Bakery stamp set.

Simple beauty is what I call this card by Krystal! Her use of satin (ribbon), rhinestones & brushed silver paper could provide gift ideas to those three wise men! And that texture really adds a nice touch to those panels in sketch #205.

Our faithful Kris Sobolik won our hearts with this card! Her fun combination of elements makes it all-around pleasing. Thanks for enjoying our color challenge #206 Kris!

And finally, we'd like to feature Trish G as our Featured Artist for our tricky sketch challenge #207! Trish had no trouble with this sketch- she even managed to get some bling on those adorable hearts at the top! The lace ribbon really adds a pretty feminine touch too.

Hello there stampers! Are you wondering where we've been with our Featured Artists posts? Well, we may be behind on posting but we're not behind on selecting our top artists. And today we're going to WOW you with FIVE FABULOUS FEATURED ARTISTS! So sit back, relax and enjoy the show!

First up, for color challenge #198 we've chosen Brenda Dean! Since our Inlinkz wasn't working that day Brenda thought to link her card in the comments and we're glad she did! Her clean & simple card made good use of our color challenge to use Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake and Marina Mist. Thanks for playing with the Divas Brenda!

Next up is Patti Corriere, our Featured Artist for sketch challenge #199! You can tell from her card that Patti had fun with this awesome sketch! She delighted us with her use of sparkle, glimmer brads and a unique way to add that dainty Daffodil Delight ribbon! So glad you decided to join our challenge Patti!

Our next Featured Artist, for challenge #200, is none other than Melissa H! Melissa's card WOW'd us with her design and style! It is clean & simple but packed with charm. Can't wait to CASE this one - be sure to join us again in the future, Melissa!

By now you are proably familiar with our next Featured Artist. Kris Sobolik is no stranger. She's played in many of our challenges and has even been a Featured Artist before. Kris thought to change the oval to a circle in our sketch challenge #201. And she ingeniously used ribbon for her background panels! We know we'll be seeing more from you, Kris!

And finally, Gwen Webb!! Gwen used our color combination of Tangerine Tango, Old Olive and Concord Crush to create this lovely card. This is an especially amazing feat considering she is color blind and can't really see the lush colors the way most of us do! Thanks for persevering, Gwen, and playing with the Divas!

Catching Up on our Featured Artists - Challenges 196 and 197!

Yes, it's me again so soon after my last post! But I wanted to split things up a bit so none of our Featured Artists would get buried at the bottom of a looooong post. We really value those of you who check in with us on Wednesday mornings and participate in our sketch or color challenge. We especially like going to check them all out on your blogs or Split Coast pages or wherever you happen to park your samples. Just looking through all your OTHER projects really gets our creative juices flowing.

FEATURED ARTISTS FROM THE LAST MONTH - PART II!

Our Featured Artist for the Color Challenge # 196 is
Patti Corriere

This color challenge - Stampin' Up!'s Pear Pizzazz, Regal Rose, Baja Breeze, and Concord Crush - was really a challenge! But Patti made the colors seem like they were made for each other. The Divas especially liked the complementary designs in the textured layer and the Stampin' Up! Patterns Paper that Patti used. And look at how well-centered she made the texture pattern in the Baja Breeze layer! This was definitely not an accident, and it's this kind of attention to detail that really caught our collective eye. Now, if I had made this basic card, I never would have thought to use the Pear Pizzazz ribbon to tie it all together. But now that I see how it works, it makes me think of the greens in our garden and how they just make the colors of the flowers pop. Great accent, Patti!

Our Featured Artist for the Sketch Challenge # 197 is
Lynn Hayes

Don't you think that Lynn just nailed this sketch challenge?! I never did buy this old Stampin' Up! set, Booglie Eyes; but now I sure do miss it. It's so durned stinkin' cute for Halloween! And Lynn picked some perfect colors to go with the stamped images as well as with the black gingham ribbon that she used to accent the card. The frayed ends to the ribbon really accent the torn and sponged edges and pull the whole card together wonderfully. Happy Boo to you, too, Lynn!

I'm off for a trip for the next couple of weeks, but I'll be posting our Featured Artists for Challenges #198 and #199 soon after I get back.

Oh, my, has it been almost a month since I posted a note about our wonderful Featured Stampers! A few of us on the Divas Coffee Break Design Team have been a bit out of commission for awhile; but I think we're almost all back on board and things should really be picking up - after another cup of coffee, of course!

FEATURED ARTISTS FROM THE LAST MONTH - PART I!

Our Featured Artist for the Color Challenge #194 is

Tracy Raymond!

Tracy's design for this color challenge uses one of my favorite combinations from this year's Stampin' Up! catalog - the Morning Cup stamp set and the Newsprint Designer Series Paper Set. What better combination for any morning than a cup of coffee and the morning paper! But then she added the wonderful Waterfall Technique and I was instantly reminded that I have to go pour water in the pot for tomorrow morning's coffee before I head off to bed! One final touch that resonated with me was the glitter on one of the stamped images inside the waterfall - it reminded me how much more cheerful (glittery?) I am after that first cup of coffee! One of my favorite Stampin' Up! color combinations for 2010 is Cherry Cobbler and Always Artichoke, paired up with Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla or Sahara Sand. Just so warm for the holiday season. Then Kris added just a nice little touch of bright with the Peace on Earth greeting on some Whisper White. While I probably would have stamped the holly images on with full color without even thinking, Kris just lightly stamped them for the perfect subtle touch (gee, writing "holly" and "lightly" in the same sentence reminds me of Breakfast at Tiffany's - but I digress). I just earned the Peaceful Season Hostess Stamp Set myself, and never even thought of using it with the Deck the Halls colors. Now it's just one more thing that I just HAVE to go try out! Thanks for the fab idea, Kris!

Good Saturday morning to you all! Today will be a relaxing one for me as I ponder what I'm going to do for next Wednesday's Divas Coffee Break Design Team challenge. No, I'm not even going to start it - I'm just going to think about it, and take a break (well that's what we do here with our coffee "breaks"!)

But no break until I share with you the name of our Featured Artist for the Sketch Challenge #193. Hey, it was a toughie this week! Actually, it always is, as we have just the greatest group of followers from all over the world who participate in our challenge. Thanks to you all!

We were so impressed with Patti's color scheme for this greeting card, as well as with her use of embellishments (and I, personally, consider texture as one of the greatest current embellishment trends!). I love that the top color of the layered daisy die-cut was the same color as the background. It made the darker daisy layer stand out so beautifully, don't you think? The sponged edges of the bird and its wing really make it pop up from the crisp background square formed by the Marina Mist Card Stock with its Whisper White mat. Love how the dimensionals help the bird form a beautiful shadow to draw attention to this element of the card.

Featured Artist for Challenge #192!

Wow, another week has flown by and the Divas have spent a coffee break (or two?) pondering all the gorgeous designs submitted by our artist friends for our Color Challenge #192. We are so delighted with all the various designs submitted for this challenge (Stampin' Up! colors Baja Breeze, River Rock, Rose Red and Not Quite Navy). One or two of us had to scratch our heads to come up with our own samples for the challenge - but not you gals! I was especially amazed by how you all just got those colors out there and created away!

But as with all our challenges, we had to choose one of you to be our Featured Stamper for the week. (Drum roll, please!) So congratulations to our

And I think it's safe to say that the word, "Artist," really applies to this fabulous design. My personal favorite part of this card is the blending of the colors on the butterflies that shine so beautifully with Shimmer Paint. Then there's the way that Amy accented her layers. Look at that teeniest of a Whisper White layer between the Baja Breeze and the River Rock layers. That, and some dimensionals to lift the focal layer a bit off the rest of the card, just made the whole layer pop!

I also love it when there's such a nice symmetrical layout in the base of a card and then the focal layer is placed off center, with a ribbon accent. And this ribbon accent, with two strips running parallel to each other both vertically and horizontally is absolutely luscious!

Featured Artist for Challenge #191!

Ah - a peaceful Saturday morning, and this Diva is thinking peaceful Baja Breeze thoughts while sipping her second (or is it third?) cup of coffee. There are TWO new boxes of Stampin' Up! goodies on my shelf just ready for some weekend play time.

But first - we need to recognize our Featured Stamper for our Sketch Challenge #191. It's none other than Lynn Hayes, with her gorgeous Baja Breeze and Whisper White Winter Wonderland.

I'm not quite sure where to start in sharing what we thought were the elements that make this a spectacular card. Just to start somewhere, you can't possibly not agree that the Baja Breeze polka dot print ISN'T polka dotted - it's definitely snow sprinkled! Just look at the snow on that cozy cottage, and you can just see all those snowflakes gently falling to cover the roof and the ground. Oh, and that glitter just adds to the serenity of the scene. A perfect winter's day!

Another beautiful feature of this card are those gorgeous trees with a spash of color that is NOT Baja Breeze. This is a time-honored technique to have a monotone design with just a touch of another color and Lynn carried it off to perfection. Another perfect accent is the punched snowflake. If we didn't know before that the paper was covered with snowflakes, we certainly do now! And I love the use of the Stampin' Up! Scallop Trim Border Punch peeking out from behind the central picture. Lovely take on that point of our sketch!

Featured Artist for Challenge #190!

Good Saturday morning to all of our loyal Diva Coffee Break Design Team followers! I hope that you're all ready for a fabulous Labor Day Weekend - and that Hurricane Earl isn't spoiling any of it for you! By this time next week, all the kiddos will be back in school (they've been back in school for 3 weeks where I live) and we on the home front can take a deep breath in peace and quiet during coffee break time.

So now onto our Featured Artist for Challenge #190. Congratulations to Lynn Hayes who was our overwhelming favorite contributor for a fun color challenge.

One thing that I particularly like about Lynn's design is the organized way in which she positioned the colors of her butterflies and the colors of the mats behind them. If you look at the top butterflies, the mat for the butterfly just below it is the same color as the stamped image. But the mats for the top stamped images are the colors of the bottom butterflies diagonally opposite. Clear as mud? Just check them out. This is a great way to mix up the colors without being boring!

Then mounting all those butterflies with dimensional adhesives against the textured background really sets them off so very nicely. It's her own personal butterfly collection without having to take any of those beautiful critters out of the wild!

Up first is Krista Driessen with her card for challenge #187:

Isn't this just the most fabulous use of three of Stampin' Up!'s newest colors - Pear Pizzazz, Concord Crush and Early Espresso! The design of the sheet of the Greenhouse Gala Designer Series Paper set reminds me of vintage wallpaper, and the delicate botanical central image brings back memories of the botanical pictures hanging on my grandmother's sitting room wall. Just stunning, don't you think? Be sure to visit her blog and comment on it!

Our #188 challenge Featured Artist is Nancy Lempinen-Leedy who used our challenge colors to make a flock of colorful little birdies:

Let's lead into this a bit: OK, this is just a darned cute card. Look at all those wonderful elements - the stamped "ribbon" strip, the button with the Early Espresso Ribbon "tying" it down, the Newsprint Designer Series Paper brayered with Marina Mist ink. And of course the use of the challenge colors.

But the kicker to this card for me is the inside. This one element of this card made me go order the stamp set. I am SO going to CASE it for my groups! The birds are free!! Woo-hoo!!! You've just gotta love it! Don't forget to go comment on Krista's blog!

Finally for today, let's give a Back-To-School cheer for Erica Cerwin for her entry in our Layout Challenge #189.

What a fabulous Teacher's card! Or maybe it's for the bus driver? Whichever, I can't believe how perfect it is to have those busses climbing the "hill" in one of our layout elements. When I first saw the challenge colors I thought of fall, and I just wasn't ready for fall. But the back-to-school theme still feels like summer for me, and I'll never see a school bus again without thinking of Daffodil Delight! It's hard to decide which element of this card I like the best, but I'm thinking that using the stamp from Extreme Elements to simulate mud might just be it. It's Time for Three More Featured Artists!!!

Are you ready to see 3 more Featured Artists?? Well wait no more...

First up for Diva Coffee Break Design challenge #184 Erica Cerwin with her bold and unique style! Don't you just love those crimped tone-on-tone dotted scallop ribbon pieces adding texture in the background?! Love the way Erica put these colors together and showcased this great new stamp set, Word Play, with flair!

Next up, for DCBD #185 is Billie Anderson. Billie's literal interpretation of the sketch is fantastic! I especially love the texture on the Crumb Cake background and the pretty rickrack she says she made with a die! Ooh, I almost forgot to mention the text on the flower petals- how fun!

Finally, this lovely card by Kris Sobolik for our DCBD #186 Featured Artist. Our color challenge was no problem for Kris! She used the grass from one of my favorite stamps, Inspired by Nature, with the texture of the Square Lattice embossing folder (reminds me of a beach mat here!) for a beautiful combination!

Welcome back for another exciting day and a great challenge. Today is the official check in day for Stampin' Up!'s annual convention. This is an exciting time for demonstrators and there are always great announcements made during convention, and the general session starts on Thursday morning, so be sure to keep in touch with your demonstrator!
